Again, the chances that we will have a white Christmas this year are not good. While they are calling for rain, the temperatures just won’t get low enough. Its unfortunate, because after the white Christmas we had here in northeast Georgia last year had me really hoping for another. I guess last year was just an anomaly. Well, maybe we will get some more snow in February! If we get another snow storm like we did last year, you better believe I am prepared this time. I have my board games and playing cards ready for it. If me and the family happen to get stuck in our home again for several days, poker and board games will keep us busy. I would recommend you prepare for it also, there just isn’t anything worse than being stranded inside with nothing to entertain yourself with. So get your entertainment preparation kit ready!

With New Years, Christmas and many other holidays coming up maybe you should consider hosting a party for all your family and friends. It can be lots of fun and many memories can be made for years to come, and if you are smart about it you won’t have to spend too much money. There are many themes you can consider maybe a secret Santa party where everyone exchanges gifts, or some type of New Years party to celebrate the coming of a new year and new resolutions, or even a casino party that can be fun for everyone whether they celebrate Christmas or not.
When planning a party you need to take into consideration how many people will be there, your budget, how much space you have, and of course what type of party you want to plan. Once you have that all figured out then you are ready to party.

When it comes to the holidays, some spend countless hours on the roads traveling to see the family. If you are traveling with a van full of kids then you will certainly be looking for something to keep your crew occupied and out of your hair. This could be as easy as a deck of playing cards. There is a plethora of games that can be played with a single deck of cards, not just Texas Hold’em or Blackjack. I would recommend investing in a deck of plastic playing cards. They are a little more expensive than regular cards but they last much longer and are much more durable. So when you hit the pavement this season remember that simplicity is a positive. Carrying a deck of cards wherever you travel can help keep your group occupied and will help you avoid unwanted stress. Have fun and travel safe!

The holidays are here, maybe you are wanting to have a Christmas party or some sort of event to bring everyone together to enjoy the holidays. Or maybe you are just giving gifts to friends or coworkers. Well one thing you can never go wrong with is poker or casino related gifts. There is a game for everyone out there poker, roulette, blackjack there are tons of games. But if they aren’t into those games you can’t go wrong with a simple deck of cards, people of all ages can find a game they can play with cards. If you want to get the whole family to play a game together than goldfish is my personal favorite or if it is just the adults then I would suggest something like Texas Hold’Em. Everyone will love their poker or casino gifts.

If you are trying to bring your family together there are all kinds of activities you can do that everybody will enjoy. Now that November is here you can take your whole family to the Atlanta ice rink at Centennial Olympic Park. That’s always a great activity for everybody and its fun too, even if you fall down!
But if going to an ice rink is a little to cold for your family you can always bring the fun inside the house. There are tons of board games your whole family can play together. I know once my family starts to play a game a competition sparks and nobody wants to stop playing. Or if board games just aren’t your style you can always go the easy route and get a deck of cards, there are endless amounts of games you can play with a single deck of cards. It’ll be sure to be hours of fun for everyone.

After what was a rough start, to say the least, for Mark Richt and the Bulldogs of Athens, he has managed to turn the season around for the Bulldogs. After winning against Arizona State and Arkansas laying it down on South Carolina, the Dawgs now control their own destiny in the SEC East. To say that Richt’s seat as UGA’s head coach was hot is a grave understatement. Now, the Bulldogs are in a position to fight their way into the SEC Championship game, this seemed highly unlikely after their 0-2 start, it would be their first appearance since 2005.
This Saturday they are matched up against the No.20 ranked Auburn in Athens. The game is set to kickoff at 3:30. Lets hope that the Dawgs and Richt show up for this game, its not gonna be an easy one. And if we do win, we will be in for the fight of our life against the Tigers of LSU, ranked no.1, in the SEC Championship game. Goooo Dawgs, Sick’em, Whoof Whoof Whoof!

November is here that means it is almost time for thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it brings the whole family together and there is tons of great food. And it’s a good time to reminisce on the year and be thankful for all the wonderful things that have happened.
If you are thinking about having a lot of friends and family over for thanksgiving it might be a good idea to have some sort of activity that everybody can play. It is getting a little to cold to do outdoor activities but a game room inside would certainly be a good time for all your loved ones. You can stay warm and cozy inside but still have a fun time.

With colder temperatures headed our way, the chance for outdoor activity is soon to be limited. So you better take advantage of these amazing temperatures we are getting right now. Going to a corn maze is always one of my favorite things to do when the leaves start to change and air gets cooler. Not only is if fun for adults, it is fun for the whole family. A great one to consider is the Southern Belle Farm in McDonough, Georgia. They offer many activities, outside of the corn maze, that everyone can enjoy. Pumpkin picking, hay-rides, pig races, and the corn cob cannon just to name a few.
But when the temperatures really get low, my favorite thing to do is to huddle up next to the fireplace in our basement, and have a family game night. Typically we play cards, but board games are always fun too. So if you are a cool weather fan like me, options for activities are all around us here in Georgia. So get out, enjoy the relief from the brutal summer.

Whether the family game night, a regularly scheduled card game with the guys, or the game at your local social organization, we have all played card games with regular paper playing cards. As you may remember, they get sticky and harder to shuffle as the night goes on and by the end of it the playing cards are ready to be retired.
There is a better product in the market that has been around for a while now. Plastic playing cards may sound weird and they cost considerably more than traditional paper cards. However, they more than pay for the cost difference with longevity. First off, the plastic cards take longer to get that sticky feeling and become diffucult to shuffle. Additionally, since they are all plastic, they can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Six Flags Over Georgia has a promotion going right now that allows everyone to purchase a one day ticket to the theme park for the same price as a kids ticket. While they say the promtotion is for a limited time, it has been in effect most of the summer. Every time you see or hear the ad, you are encouraged to hurry up and take advantage of the offer.
The theme park boasts 10 or more roller coasters, including the new Goliath. Goliath claims to be the new benchmark for thrill rides everywhere. With it’s 200 foot ascent, zero gravity, and 8.5 acre coverage, Goliath thrills riders all the way outside of the park and back into the park.
While roller coasters and thrill rides get the most attention, Six Flags also has many rides for non thrill seekers. One of the classic family rides, The Monster Plantation, has been reworked and is now called The Monster Mansion. If your want to cool off with water on a hot summer day, try the Log Jamboree, Thunder River, or Splashwater Falls. For the small children in the family there is the Bugs Bunny World.
