One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is go out with some friends to the bowling alley or local pool hall and play a few rounds of pool. If you’ve never played billiards, as it’s officially called, it is a very fun and simple to learn game that really brings people together. Unlike poker or other gambling games, which can be a bit of a standoff at times, pool can be a very friendly game. Of course like any game it can have its competitive moments at times. So the next time you and your buddies are looking for something to do, take a trip down to the pool hall and shoot a few rounds.

Braves beat Phillies 15-13

The Atlanta Braves put on an amazing show against the Philadelphia Phillies last night. A back and forth game saw the Braves down 6-0 against Roy Halladay, only to come back from four runs down in the eighth inning. Braves player Brian McCann, who nailed a grand slam against the Phillies said of the game, “It was just a weird game all the way around…Stuff you’ve never seen happen”. Chipper Jones just missed a homerun in the eleventh inning on a ball that landed barely foul to the right, but then connected against Phillies’ Brian Sanches. A two run homer from Jones secured a 15-13 victory for the Braves and broke an eight game losing streak against the Phillies.

Enjoy The Day With A Table Top

After a week of nothing but clouds, the sun has finally decided to show its face again. These are the types of days where I want to pull out the poker table top and sit outside and enjoy this great weather while it’s around. Don’t let a day like this go to waste by just sitting inside staring at your computer or watching the television. Even if you don’t have a table top you can pull out any folding table, grab a deck of cards and some chips and play a few hands of poker!

Braves Retire No. 29

John Smoltz’s career had a rough start, but by the end, it was good enough to ensure no Atlanta Brave will wear the number 29 again. The Braves announced Monday that Smoltz’s jersey will be retired and he will be inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame at Turner field. The ceremony will take place June 8 before the Braves begin a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Smoltz is the ninth player to have his jersey retired by the team and will join other big name Atlanta pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine.

With weather as nice as we’ve been having lately, one of my favorite things to do has been sit outside and play a few hands of poker. It’s always a fun time to set up a table on the back porch, have a few friends over, eat some food and play a few card games. This weekend is looking just as nice, so why not have your own little poker gathering? Just set up a table outside, cook a few burgers and play some music. You’ll start your Spring season the right way and have hours of fun.
